It’s understood that as we age, our physical and mental skills gradually decline.  The challenge is how to ensure that we continue to safely enjoy the activities that help us remain active and independent.  And nowhere is the consideration of safety more important than when it comes to driving a car.

With your safety in mind, Sanatoga Ridge Community is hosting the AARP Smart Driver Course.  The complete course is two 4-hour sessions to be held on June 10th and 11th from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the dining room at Sanatoga Ridge.

The course was designed using the latest driver safety research and insights.  It provides evidence-based safe driving strategies that you will be able to apply in everyday situations.  The AARP Smart Driver Course also refreshes your knowledge of the rules of the road, informs you of changes in laws that you might have missed (it’s been a while since you were a teenager taking that driving test), and reminds you of hazards you might face while driving.

The teacher will lead discussions on a variety of topics, including techniques for handling left turns, dealing with right-of-way situations and safely navigating roundabouts.  Though chock full of valuable information that will increase your family’s safety when you’re behind the wheel, there is no test to pass to complete the AARP Smart Driver Course.

In addition to becoming a better and more educated driver, after completion of the AARP Smart Driver Course, you may be eligible for a multi-year auto insurance discount.  You will need to check with your insurance company to see if you qualify.

The AARP Smart Driver Course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.  All drivers are welcome to attend.  Please RSVP to the Sanatoga Ridge office by June 5.  Make check or money order payable to AARP Smart Driver Course.

AARP is also offering a 90-minute Smart DriverTEK Class on the afternoon of June 10 which will focus on learning the latest technologies available in today’s cars.  For more information, contact the Sanatoga Ridge office at 610-326-6282.

Refresh your driving skills…learn the new rules of the road…and begin your journey to safer traveling.
